Jewels of Rajasthan

One of the classical itinerary to explore the colourful Rajasthan in the footsteps of the ancient kings to know its history and its heritage of splendid forts and palaces. You will be fascinated by the colours of saris and the fragrance of spices in picturesque sceneries that seem to come out from an ancient world.

Day 01: Arrival in Delhi
Upon arrival at Delhi airport, meeting with our staff and transfer to hotel.

Visit of Old Delhi. Panoramic tour of Red Fort, built in 1639 by Mughal Emperor Shah Jahan. Visit of Jama Masjid, also commissioned by Shah Jahan and completed in 1656. Walking through Chandni Chowk 17th century old market. Visit of Raj Ghat, where Gandhi was cremated in 1948.  Proceed the city tour of New Delhi through the government buildings. Visit of India Gate, First World War memorial. Overnight at hotel.


Day 02: Delhi / Mandawa (Km.280 - approx 6 hrs)
Breakfast  Qutub Minar complex, one of the most significant monument of Delhi, its 73 meters high tower,  built in 1193 by Qutab-ud-din Aibak. Later drive to Mandawa. Dinner and overnight at the hotel.

Day 03: Mandawa / Bikaner (Km. 200 - approx 4 hrs)
After breakfast, visit of Mandawa, know as  "open art gallery" of Rajasthan, famous for ancient richly decorated palaces, "havelis" of merchants. Later drive to Bikaner. In the afternoon, visit of Junagarh fort in Bikaner built by Raja Raj Singh, the sixth ruler of Bikaner, 1571 to 1611; It has seven gates and several palaces, pavilions and many hindu and jainist temples. Walking through the old city to see the locale market of Bikaner. Dinner and overnight at the hotel.

Day 04: Bikaner / Jaisalmer (Km. 340 - approx 6 hrs)
Breakfast and leave for Jaisalmer. Check in at hotel. Evening visit to Cenotaphs of royal family of Jaisalmer.  Dinner and overnight at the hotel.
 

Day 05: Jaisalmer
After breakfast visit to the fort of Jaisalmer, knows as Golden Fort for the colour of yellow sand stone. Jaisalmer was founded in 1156 by the Rajput Rawal Jaisal. Walking trough narrow streets of fort and visit of two Jain temples dated 1100. Visit of its beautiful havelies. Also visit of Gadi Sagar Lake built by Maharwal Jaisal in 1367 to provide a source of water to city.

In the afternoon, excursion to Sam or Khuri, to watch the sunset over the dunes in Thar desert. Dinner and overnight at the hotel.
 

Day 06: Jaisalmer / Jodhpur (Km. 275 - approx 5 hrs)
Breakfast and leave for Jodhpur, also called "the blue city", as many houses in old city are painted in Blu. Jodhpur is a second major city of Rajasthan. Upon arrival check in at hotel. In the afternoon visit of Mehrangarh Fort, built by Rao Jodh in 1458. Inside the fort there is a beautiful collection of palanquins, elephant sedans, musical instruments, costumes, weapons etc. Later visit of Jaswant Thanda, white marble mausoleum built by Maharaja Sardar Singh in 1899, where the members of royal family are cremated. Dinner and overnight stay in Hotel.

Day 07: Jodhpur / Ranakpur / Udaipur (Km.260 - approx 6 hrs)
Breakfast and leaving for Udaipur. Enroute visit Ranakpur Jain temples, build in 15th century, rich in refined mythological sculptures, marble columns, stained, decorations like fine embroidery. Proceed to Udaipur "city of lakes" and also called "white city", due to its fabulous white marble palaces. Udaipur, founded in the sixteenth century by Maharana Udai Singh, is known for its handicrafts, marble items, paintings, silverware and pottery. Dinner and overnight at the hotel.

 

Day 08: Udaipur
Breakfast and visit of City Palace, the largest palace of Rajasthan, made up of 5 buildings that form a citadel where currently Maharaja lives. Visit of Jagdish temple and garden of royal family "Saheliyon Ki bari". In the late afternoon, boat ride on the lake to enjoy the sunset. Dinner and overnight at the hotel.

 

Day 09: Udaipur / Pushkar / Jaipur (Km.335 - approx 7 hrs)
Breakfast and leave for Jaipur. Enroute visiting Pushkar, ancient sacred city for Hindus, on the banks of a small lake where devotees came for sacred ablutions. Also famous for annual camels fairs held in November. Proceed for Jaipur, capital of Rajasthan, founded by Maharaja Sawai Jai Singh II in 1727 ,  also called  "Pink City" for the color of its buildings. Dinner and overnight at the hotel.

Day 10: Jaipur

Breakfast and visit to the famous Amber fort, 11 km from the city of Jaipur. Its was the ancient capital of the state and built by Raja Man Singh I in 16th century. It's considered as one of the most beautiful fort of the Rajasthan and also become the site of world heritage of UNESCO. Photo stop in front of the Palace of the Winds or Hawa Mahal, built in 1799 by Maharaja Sawai Pratap Singh to allow the ladies of the court to observe, without being seen, the daily life in the streets.  Visit to the City Palace complex, the historic seat of the Maharaja of Jaipur, whose construction began between 1729 and 1732 by Sawai Jai Singh II. Even today it is the residence of the royals and a part of is open for public with museum. Continue with a visit to the Jantar Mantar, the Astronomical Observatory, World Heritage site, a collection of architectural forms that serve as astronomical instruments, built by Maharaja Jai ​​Singh II between 1727 and 1734 on the model of similar structures already erected in Delhi.  Dinner and overnight at the hotel.

Day 11: Jaipur / Fatehpur Sikri / Agra (245 kms - approx 5 hrs )

After breakfast leave for Agra enruote visiting Fatehpur Sikri, located 40 km from Agra and built by Emperor Akbar. The city was abandoned 15 years later due to the scarcity of water. It's red sandstone buildings and pavilions are perfectly preserved. Proceed for Agra, the city of love. In the afternoon, visit of the Taj Mahal (closed on Friday), built by Shah Jahan, for his beloved wife Mumtaz Mahal, who died during giving birth to their 14th child in 1631, he ordered the construction of this masterpiece of Mughal architecture which was finished in 1653.  Today it is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and also know as seventh wonder of the world. Dinner and overnight at the hotel. 

Day 12: Agra / Delhi (240 kms - approx 4 hrs)

After breakfast visit of Red fort of Agra, world heritage sito of UNESCO which was built by Akbar . Questa potente fortezza di arenaria rossa racchiude, all'interno delle sue mura di cinta lunghe 2,5 km, la città imperiale dei sovrani Mughal. Comprende molti palazzi da favola, come il Palazzo Jahangir e il Khas Mahal, costruito da Shah Jahan; sale del pubblico, come il Diwan-i-Khas; e due bellissime moschee. After visit of Agra leave  per Delhi. Upon arrival check in at hotel. Dinner and overnight at the hotel . 

Day 13: Departure from Delhi

After breakfast transfer to airport to connect flight for onward destinations.
