Tribal tour of Orissa
In India there is an amalgam of 437 tribes of which 62 only in Orissa (Odisha or) which corresponds to about seven million people, or approximately 22.21% of the total state population. Linguistically the tribes of India are classified into four categories, those of Indo-Aryan language, the Dravidian language, those of Tibetan-Burmese language and those Austric language. ln Orissa strain lacks the Tibetan-Burmese linguistic while there are the other three that, in turn, include other language sotto suddivisioni. However, these tribes have in common socio-cultural characteristics that make homogeneous their primitive tribal culture.
Day 01 (Tuesday): arrival in KOLKATA (flight)
Check Kolkata airport. Meeting with our staff and transfer to hotel. Dinner and overnight
Day 02 (Wednesday): KOLKATA / BHUBANESHWAR (flight)
Breakfast and transfer to airport for flight to Bhubaneshwar. Arrival at the airport meeting with our staff. Transfer to the hotel. Bhubaneswar, Odisha capital was the ancient capital of Kalinga and the architectural heritage of this period it is its biggest attraction. For its many ancient temples is defined City temple and, with Puri and Konark, forms the Swarna Tribhuja ( "Golden Triangle"), one of the most visited destinations in eastern India. Afternoon tour of some characteristic temples, typical of Orissa: the wonderful Lingaraj Mandir (non-Hindus are not allowed) of '11th century. Anno Domini, Hindu temple, with refined carved towers, dedicated to Harihara, a form of Shiva, and one of the oldest in town; the small Mukteshwar Mandir, 970 a.d., dedicated to Shiva, The Rajarani Temple, 11th century. a.d., known as the temple of love, covered discreetly erotic, elegant engravings in his sensuous sculptures of nymphs and the temple of the 64 Yogini Temple (one of the four Yogini temples of India). Dinner and overnight at the hotel.
Day 03 (Thursday): BHUBANESHWAR
Breakfast. Excursion to Khandagiri and Udayagiri to visit, on the namesake hills, the janiste caves, partly natural and partly artificial, finely carved, of great archaeological, historical and religious. It is believed that most of these caves have been dug for Jain monks during the reign of King Kharavela. Udayagiri and Khandagiri has 18 caves has 15. Among the most famous in Udayagiri, the Hathigumpha (cave 14) and Ganeshagumpha (Elephant Cave) (cave 10) for their art treasures, their sculptures and reliefs, and for their great historical importance. Khandagiri offers a nice view of Bhubaneswar. Visit to the Nandankanan Zoological Park famous for white tigers. In the evening, visit the temple Ram Mandir and Ekamra Hatt, the traditional market. Dinner and overnight at the hotel.
Day 04 (Friday): BHUBANESHWAR / KONARK / PURI (Km. 70 and approx 2 hrs)
Breakfast and departure for Konarak. Visit the Temple of the Sun God, one of the wonders of Hindu religious art and world heritage UNESCO. The temple, built by the Ganga dynasty (XIII sec.), Is one of the world's leading examples of sacred architecture. Dedicated to the Sun God, it is the heavenly chariot drawn by seven horses and driven by twenty-four stone wheels finely chiseled and gigantic size. The statues of the god, driving his chariot to bring light and life, were arranged so as to receive the rays of the sun at dawn, noon and dusk; the bas-reliefs exalt the divine journey with allegorical motifs of terrestrial life: musicians, women, children, couples in erotic effusions, birds and flowers. Continue to Puri (40 km - about 1 hour) on the east coast of the country, an important Hindu pilgrimage center. Evening visit to the Jagannath Temple dedicated to Lord Krishna, Lord of the Universe (entrance is forbidden to non-Hindus). And 'the most famous Hindu temple of Puri and important monastery and part of the Char Dham, a Hindu pilgrimage that has to make at least once in their lives. Built in the twelfth century, the main building is 65 meters high and topped by banner of Vishnu and the "chakras", the mystical wheel. Until recent times almost the entire temple was covered with white plates that European sailors in previous centuries used it as a reference point defining it in logbooks "white pagoda." Dinner and overnight at the hotel.
Day 05 (Saturday): PURI
Breakfast and free time to relax on the beach. In the afternoon visit the Gundicha temple, Loknath and Raghurajpur, a former village of artisans known for its paint work. In the evening visit to the Jagannath Temple for Aarti (ceremony) or evening walk in the market on the beach. Dinner and overnight at the hotel.
Day 06 (Sunday): PURI / Chilka / Gopalpur (Km. 70 and approx 2 hrs)
Breakfast. Drive to Gopalpur. Stop in Mangalajodi (which belongs to the Chilika lagoon area). Cruise typical country boat to admire your surroundings and spotting local and migratory birds. (Winter is the best time to visit the Mangalajodi). After lunch continue to Gopalpur. Dinner and overnight at the hotel.
Day 07 (Monday): Gopalpur / Taptapani / Rayagada (Km. 250 and approx 6 hrs)
Drive to Rayagada via Chandragiri, a colony of Tibetan refugees with a large monastery, and Taptapani, famous for its sulfur springs. This region is a picturesque landscape of mountains, meadows, rivers, waterfalls and lakes and preserves an exceptional ethnographic heritage. It then enters in the tribal area of the villages of the Adivasi tribes that sixty-two tribes of Dravidian origin who took refuge in the jungle to escape the advance of the Arya, in 1600, a.c., from Central Asia. Visit of some villages, Kutia Kondh and Dongria Kondh Desia. Visit Barkhama to see the typical work of the tribals. Dinner and overnight at the hotel.
Day 08 (Tuesday): Rayagada / DUKUM / Rayagada
Breakfast and excursion to Dukum (near Bisamkatak) to visit the weekly market Desia Kondha (ONLY ON TUESDAY). Visit the local handicraft Dokra to Jhigidi village. Return to Rayagada. Dinner and overnight at the hotel.
Day 09 (Wednesday): Rayagada / Chatikona / Jeypore (Km. 175 and approx 5 hrs)
Breakfast. Excursion to Chatikona to see the beautiful colorful weekly market Dongria Kondh tribe (ONLY THE WEDNESDAY '). This tribe is one of the most primitive of the Dongria Kondh and lives in the high slopes of the hills Niyamagiri. Then visit to Jeypore, stopping at Minapali (the homemade bamboo village). Dinner and overnight at the hotel.
Day 10 (Thursday): Jeypore / ANUKADELLI / Jeypore (Kms. 96 and approx 2 hrs)
Breakfast and departure for Ankadelli to visit the famous Bonda tribe, who come to buy the weekly market (ONLY ON THURSDAY '). Unique opportunity to see a concentration so colorful tribal in one place. Bonda women with colorful jewelry. Then, return to Jeypore. Dinner and overnight at the hotel.
Day 11 (Friday): Jeypore / Kunduli / VIZAG (Km. 250 and approx 5 hrs)
Breakfast. Departure for Kunduli to visit the weekly market Paraja and Mali tribes (ONLY THE FRIDAY '). And 'the largest of the tribal area market. Stop at the tribal villages of Paraja Sana, Sana Padar, Bada Padar. Continue to Visakhapatnam. Dinner and overnight at the hotel.
Day 12 (Saturday): VIZAG / KOLKATA (by flight)
Transfer to airport for flight to Kolkata. Check Kolkata airport and meeting with the staff of our staff for presentations. Transfer to the hotel. Dinner and overnight.
Day 13 (Sunday): from KOLKATA
Early morning transfer to international airport and boarding the flight to return home.
