           Divine India

The tour starts from Delhi, proceed through Amritsar with its Golden Temple, and Dharamshala, home of the Dalai Lama, touching important holy places of Hinduism, Buddhism, Sikhism till the source of the Ganges. A spiritual journey, also particularly impressive from the natural point of view, considering that takes place at the foot of the Himalayas.

Day 01: Arrival in Delhi
Arrive at Delhi airport, meet an assist on arrival and transfer to hotel. Overnight at Hotel.

 

Day 02: Delhi
After breakfast, tour of Old and New Delhi, panoramic visit of Red Fort, a UNESCO World Heritage since 2007, built in 1639 by Mughal Emperor Shah Jahan (the creator of the Taj Mahal). Visit the Jama Masjid, one of the largest mosques in India, also commissioned by Shahjahan and completed in 1656. Passing through the 17th century old Chandni Chowk market built in the. Visit to Raj Ghat, a black marble platform that marks the site of the cremation of Mahatma Gandhi took place in 1948. Continuation for the new Delhi and panoramic visit of government buildings that represent the largest liberal democracy in the world. Visit to India Gate, the arch erected in memory of the Indian soldiers who left their lives fighting for the British Army during World War I. Visit the complex of the Qutub Minar, a tower of 73 meters, engraved with verses of the Koran, built in 1193 by Qutab-ud-din Aibak, one of the biggest brick tower in the world. Dinner and overnight at the hotel.

 

Day 3: Delhi / Amritsar (By Intercity train)
After breakfast transfer to Railway station to board  Shatabdhi express for Amritsar. Meet and assist on arrival and transfer to Hotel. Late afternoon drive to Wagah border, only place and border between India and Pakistan, where every evening "the ceremony of lowering flag " take place every evening during sun set.  Dinner and overnight at the hotel.

 

Day 4: Amritsar / Dharamshala (Km. 200 - approx 4 hrs)
After breakfast proceed visit the Golden Temple, one of the most scared temple for Sikh build by fourth Sikh guru Ramdas in 1577, the temple is built in the centre of the holly tank and the dome and walls are covered in gold leaf. Visit to Jallianwala Bagh, memorial of the massacre, took place in 1919, important event for the Independence struggle. Leave for Dharamshala, Himachal Pradesh, village nestled in a landscape of pines, oaks and conifers, protected by snow-capped mountains. Since 1960, when it became the temporary seat of His Holiness Dalai Lama, Dharamshala has acquired international fame as "The Little Lhasa in India". Mcleod ganj, 2,082 m.s.l.m and 9 km from Dharamshala, the official residence of Tibet's government in exile since 1959 and the seat of Buddhist monasteries, home to thousands of Tibetan refugees and pilgrimage. Dinner and overnight at hotel.

 

Day 5: Dharamshala
Visit the monastery, the Tibetan Buddhist center and the buildings that house the government. Walk in the bazaar and visit of small temples and waterfalls around. Dinner and overnight at the hotel.

 

Day 6: Dharamshala / Shimla (Km.240 - approx 4 hrs)
After breakfast drive to Shimla, the capital of 'Himachal Pradesh, at an altitude of about 2,400, m.s.l.m. , for its pleasurable weather even in hottest months, It declared the British India's summer capital in 1864. Visit of Shimla and its colonial places. Dinner and overnight at the hotel.

 

Day 7: Shimla / Rishikesh (Km. 273 - approx 5 hrs)
After breakfast drive to Rishikesh, a small town situated along the Ganges holy river from where you can admire the snow-capped peaks on three sides of the city.
In the afternoon we assist the Aarti ancient prayer, a powerful spiritual ritual that uses fire as an offering to the goddess Ganga, or Ganges, on of the holiest river for Hindus. Dinner and overnight at the hotel.

 

Day 8: Rishikesh
After breakfast, visit of Rishikesh know as International capital of Yoga, which offer lot of temples, Ashrams and a perfect atmosphere for meditation and yoga. An International festival of Yoga is held here in March every year. Visit some of the religious and spiritual center. The town was known in the West, thanks to the Beatles where they composed some of their best songs. Walk in the bazaars, in the ghats, where devotees offer sacred ablutions. Dinner and overnight at the Hotel.

 

Day 9: Rishikesh / Haridwar (Km. 20 - 40 min.)
After breakfast drive to Haridwar, sacred place for hindu pilgrims and of the fourth city where Kumb mela took place. Visit the Mansa Devi temple and ghats (the steps leading down to the river).  Rickshaw ride in the old city. At sunset witness of Ganga Aarti ceremony, dedicated to Mother Ganges, where priests sing mantras, with fire and candles. For Hindus, a visit to Haridwar can attain moksha and free from the cycle of reincarnation suffering.

 

Day 10: Haridwar / Delhi (Intercity train - approx 5 hrs)
After breakfast transfer to Railways station to board Shatabdhi Express for Delhi. Meet an assist on arrival and transfer to Hotel. Dinner and overnight at hotel.

 

Day 11: Departure from Delhi
Morning in time transfer to airport to connect flight for onward destination.
