   Sikkim, in the heart ofHimalaya

A journey in Sikkim, perched between Nepal, Bhutan, Tibet (China) and Darjeeling is a real Himalayan Experience, considered home to the Monte khanchendzong, the third highest peak in the world. The rich biodiversity in flora and fauna, the variety of ethnic faces in their costumes, traditions and cultures and climate, including the tropical heat of the valleys and alpine cold of the snowy regions, will make these unforgettable places.

Day 01: Arrival in Delhi
Upon arrival, meet with the staff of our staff for presentations. Then transfer to hotel for overnight stay.

 

Day 02: Delhi
After breakfast, tour of Old and New Delhi, visiting from outside the Red Fort, a UNESCO World Heritage since 2007. and built in 1639 by Emperor Shah Jahan Mogul (the creator of the Taj Mahal). Visit the Jama Masjid, one of the largest mosques in India, also commissioned by Shahjehan and completed in 1656. It crosses the characteristic old Chandni Chowk market built in the 17th century by the emperor himself. Visit Raj Ghat, a black marble platform that marks the site of the cremation of Mahatma Gandhi took place January 31, 1948 one day after his assassination. Continuation for the new Delhi until the district government buildings that represent the largest liberal democracy in the world and Connaught Place. Stop at India Gate. the arch erected in memory of the Indian soldiers who left their lives fighting for the British Army during World War II. Day 03: Delhi / Bagdogra (by flight) Bagdogra / Darjeeling (km. 90 - approx 4 hrs)
After breakfast flight to Bagdogra. Upon arrival, meet with the staff of our staff. Departure by road to Darjeeling and accommodation in hotels. Darjeeling (mt. 2200), already appreciated by the British in the nineteenth century for its pleasant climate and famous for its excellent quality of tea, including green valleys of the Himalayas, has altitudes from 1791 to 2365 m.s.l.m. In the lower town, connected to the high by long stairways, it is the colorful bazaars frequented by people of various ethnic groups from neighboring villages. The city is also home to many Tibetans fled after the Chinese occupation of their country.

 

Day 04: Darjeeling
Before dawn, leaving for excursion to Tiger Hill (mt. 2585) on Mount Kanchendzonga, to enjoy the sunrise. This vantage point offers a magnificent 360 ° Himalayas. Stop at Batasia Loop and visit of the Ghoom monastery of 1850 with, inside, a huge image of Maitreya, the future Buddha. Breakfast and visit to a processing center of tea. In the afternoon visit the Senchal Golf Course, the highest golf course in the world (2490 m.s.l.m.) in the village of Lablongm Mountaineering Institute and Tenzing Norgay. Dinner and overnight at the hotel.

 

Day 05: Darjeeling / Pelling (Km. 140 - approx 5/6 hrs)
Breakfast and departure for Pelling. At an altitude of 2,085 m.s.l.m. at the foot of the 'Himalayas, Sikkim, Pelling is popular for its panoramic view of Mount Kangchenjunga, the third highest peak in the world, as well as for its ancient monasteries. Visit the Buddhist monastery of Pemayangtse, one of the oldest in the country, had built in 1705; It is the most important gompa of Sikkim and belongs to the Nyingma school; inside, a wonderful collection of Buddhist idols, including ancient holy books, thangkas and sculptures. Dinner and overnight at the hotel.

 

Day 06: Pelling / Gangtok (Km.124 - approx 5/6 hours)
Breakfast and departure to Gangtok (mt. 1200), capital of Sikkim, along a nice mountain road between lush forests. Stop to visit the famous Rumtek Monastery, the main seat of the "Black Hat sect" established in Tibet in 'twelfth century. The monastery, the largest in Sikkim, is home to the community of monks and is the place where the rites and sacred practices of the Karma Kagyu. Many sacred objects are housed within the complex, and one of the most beautiful is the golden stupa, 4 meters high and studded with turquoise and coral, which contains the precious relics of His Holiness the sixteenth Karmapa. After the visit, drive to Gangtok. Dinner and overnight at the hotel.

 

Day 07: Gangtok
Breakfast and tour of the city, including the Enchey Monastery, a small Gompa half of the nineteenth century which houses more than 100 monks. Do visit Drul Chorten, one of the most important of Sikkim with its 108 prayer wheels which pilgrims rotate a sign of devotion. Visit the sanctuary of Orchids that are the flower symbol of Sikkim. Free time. Dinner and overnight at the hotel.

 

Day 08: Gangtok / Bagdogra - Delhi (by flight)
Breakfast and departure to the Bagdogra airport (Km. 127 - about 4/5 hour). In the afternoon departure and arrival in Delhi. Meeting with the staff and transfer to Hotel. Time for individual initiatives. After dinner, transfer to Delhi International Airport.

 

Day 9: Departure from Delhi
Flight boarding for the return home.
