Grand tour of Sri Lanka

The name of this trip to Sri Lanka derives from the meaning of the name of this small island in the Indian Ocean, precisely "wonderful island". A destination considered as one of the best in the world from a tourist point of view. This itinerary will lead you to a tropical paradise inhabited by the most ancient and hospitable people, exploring its historical, cultural and naturalistic richness, including UNESCO heritage, tea plantations and pristine white sand beaches. This tour also includes a visit to Yala Park and two days of relaxation on the Induruwa beaches. A journey suitable for everyone where at every step there is a story to tell.

Day 01: Arrival in Colombo, Colombo / Negombo (Km. 55  - approx 1 hrs )

Arrival in Colombo. Meeting with the staff of our staff for presentations. Transfer to Negombo and accommodation in the hotel. In the afternoon visit of the city. Dinner and overnight at the hotel.

 

Day 02: Negombo / Pinnawela / Anuradhapura

Breakfast and departure for Anuradhapura with a stop in Pinnawala, to visit an orphanage for Asian elephants. In the evening, visit the Mihinthalaya Rock temple, a place, according to legend, where the monk Mahinda (son of the great Indian King Ashoka) and King Devanampiyatissa met and discussed the introduction of Buddhism in Sri Lanka; today it is a sacred place for Buddhists. Dinner and overnight at the hotel.


Day 03: Anuradhapura / Dambulla

Breakfast and visit of the ancient city of Anuradhapura and other important sites such as Ruwan Wala Saya and Srimahabodhiya. Departure for Dambulla. In the evening, visit the cave with the temple, Unesco World Heritage, and the five sanctuaries located in a cave complex. The Buddhist murals and the 157 statues are of particular importance. Dinner and overnight at the hotel.

 

Day 04: Dambulla / Sigiriya / Kandy

Breakfast and excursion to Sigiriya Fortress, the eighth wonder of the world, in a spectacular location on the rock. Departure for Kandy, with a stop in Matale to visit a spice garden and attend a cultural dance show. Arrival in Kandy, an ancient city in central Sri Lanka. Visit of the Royal Palace of Kandy which houses the relic of the tooth of Buddha. Dinner and overnight at the hotel.

 

Day 05: Kandy / Nuwara Eliya

Breakfast and visit of Kandy including a visit to the largest Botanical Garden in Sri Lanka and the gem museum. Departure for Nuwara Eliya, and on the way stop at the 109 meters high Ramboda waterfall, at a tea plantation and factory. Dinner and overnight at the hotel.

 

Day 06: Nuwara Eliya / Yala

Breakfast and visit of Nuwara Eliya, founded by the British in the 19th century, located on green hills and which is the most important center for the production of tea. Departure for Yala with a stop in Ella Gap, an area rich in biodiversity that offers a beautiful view of the southern plains of Sri Lanka. Stop at the Rawana waterfall. In the evening Jeep safari in Yala National Park which is home to leopards, elephants, bears, crocodiles and many other species. Dinner and overnight in Yala.

 

Day 07: Yala / Galle / Induruwa

Breakfast and departure for Induruwa, with a stop in Galle, known by navigators and explorers since 1400. Visit of the Galle Fort from which you can enjoy a beautiful view of the bay. Visit the turtle protection center in Kosgoda and the Moonstone mine in Meetiyagoda. Arrival in Induruwa. Dinner and overnight at the hotel.

 

Day 8: Induruwa

Induruwa (70 m. From Colombo) is a small village with white and sandy beaches ideal for walking, sunbathing and swimming. Relax on the beach. Dinner and overnight at the hotel.

 

Day 9: Induruwa

Relax on the beach. Dinner and overnight at the hotel.

 

Day 10: Induruwa / Colombo

Breakfast and departure for Colombo. In the evening visit of the city. Dinner and overnight at the hotel.

 

Day 11: Depart from Colombo

Breakfast and departure for the airport for boarding the flight to return home
