Day 01: Arrival in Delhi

Meet and assistance on arrival at the airport and transfer to hotel. Overnight at Hotel.

 

Day 02: Delhi

After breakfast, tour of Old Delhi. Panoramic visit of Red Fort, built in 1639 by Mughal Emperor Shah Jahan (who also built the Taj Mahal) and since 2007 UNESCO World Heritage Site. Visit of Jama Masjid, one of the largest mosques of Asia, also commissioned by Shahjahan and completed in 1656. Passing through Chandni Chowk market built in the 17th century by the emperor himself. Visit of Raj Ghat, site of the cremation of Mahatma Gandhi.

Afternoon sightseeing tour of New Delhi, drive through government buildings, which represent the largest liberal democracy in the world. Visit of India Gate, the arch erected in memory of the Indian soldiers who left their lives fighting for the British Army during World War I. Visit the Qutub Minar complex, a tower of 73 meters, engraved with verses of the Koran, built in 1193 by Qutab-ud-din Aibak, which is one of the finest monuments in India. Dinner and overnight at the hotel.

 

Day 03: Delhi / Jaipur (Km.270 - about 6 hours)

After breakfast, drive to Jaipur, the capital of Rajasthan, known as "Pink City" because its colours of pink sandstone buildings that characterise beautiful Old Town. Jaipur was founded in 18th November 1727 by Maharaja Sawai Jai Singh II, the ruler of Amber, after whom the city is named. In 2008 Conde Nast Traveller Readers Choice Survey has ranked Jaipur the 7th best place to visit in Asia. Dinner and overnight at the hotel. 

Day 04: Jaipur

Breakfast and excursion to the famous Amber fort, 11 kms. from the city, Amber was the ancient capital of the state and the seat of all the Rajput dynasties until the founding of Jaipur. The construction of this fort began in 1592 by Raja Man Singh I. This magnificent fort is built in yellow and pink sandstone and white marble. Return to the city and stop in the front of the Palace of Winds or Hawa Mahal, built in 1799 to allow the ladies of the court to observe, without being seen, the daily life in the streets. Visit of City Palace, still the residence of the royal family although a part of its is open to public. Followed by a visit of the Jantar Mantar, the astronomical observatory, the World Heritage site, built by Maharaja Jai ​​Singh II between 1727 and 1734 on the model of similar structures already erected in Delhi. Dinner and overnight at the hotel.

 

Day 05: Jaipur / Fatehpur Sikri / Agra (Km.245 - about 5 hours)

Breakfast and leave to Agra enroute visiting Fatehpur Sikri, located 40 kms from Agra and built by Emperor Akbar in 1569. The city was abandoned after 15 years due to scarcity of water. Its palaces and pavilions are perfectly preserved by red sandstone. Continue on to Agra, the city of love. In the afternoon, visit of Taj Mahal (closed on Friday), monument of love built by Shah Jahan in the memory of his beloved wife Mumtaz Mahal; it took 22 years to build this masterpiece, finished in 1653. Their bodies rest in eternal simple crypt. Today it is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Dinner and overnight at the hotel.

 

Day 06: Agra / Delhi (Km. 240 - about 4 hours)

Breakfast and visit of Red Fort, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, whose construction was ordered by Emperor Akbar in 1565. Visit of the beautiful private palaces and the Hall of Audiences. In the afternoon departure to Delhi.  Arrival in Delhi and dinner at local restaurant. No overnight. After dinner transfer to International Airport.

 

Day 07: Departure from Delhi

Boarding on the flight for onward destination.
